Domain Setup
When setting up your new or existing domain using XS Web Solutions as your web host, you will need to set your name servers to the following:
Nameserver IP Address
Primary: NS1.XSWEBSOLUTIONS.COM 216.127.88.59
Secondary: NS2.XSWEBSOLUTIONS.COM 216.127.89.232
If you wish for XS Web Solutions to transfer your domain, please send your registrar information to support@xswebsolutions.com.
cPanel 7
One of the many useful features XS Web Solutions comes with is the account control panel powered by cPanel 7, which allows you to maintain and modify your account with a very user friendly interface.

The control panel is located at http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel. When prompted, enter your user name and password assigned by XS Web Solutions.

As well as many useful tools, cPanel also displays your account statistics including disk usage and bandwidth usage for the current billing month.

For more information on cPanel, please visit their online documentation here.
File Management
When uploading files to your website the most popular method is via FTP (File Transfer Protocol). Many online services such as AOL, CompuServe, and Prodigy may have a built in FTP interface for which you would simply type ftp://yourdomain.com in the address bar to access. There are many FTP clients to choose from such as Flash FXP. For more advanced users, telnet may be used.

Another method of managing your files is the web file manager located in your account control panel located at http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel. Most of the features you will need are built into the file manager, i.e.: uploading, deleting, permissions, moving, renaming, etc.

When you are connected via FTP you will notice several directories listed. For files to be accessed via http, you will need to place your files into the "public_html" directory (symbolic link "www").

  • DO NOT DELETE ANY DIRECTORIES OR FILES BELOW THE "public_html" DIRECTORY!

Many of these directories and files are required for your website to operate properly.
Site Statistics
Your website's statistics can be viewed in your account control panel. Some of the most popular statistic software is already preinstalled such as Awstats and Webalizer. You can also view individual subdomain statistics.

For more information regarding your preinstalled website statistics software please visit their websites listed below.

Subdomains
Unlike many other web hosting companies, we allow you a number of subdomains (http://sub.yourdomain.com) at no extra charge. This includes both redirecting subdomains as well as subdirectory subdomains.

These subdomains are easily created through your account control panel. To create a subdomain click on the "Subdomain" icon in your control panel. Type the subdomain alias you wish to create in the blank textbox, select the domain you wish to create this alias on and click "Add". You will receive confirmation that your subdomain was created. If you wish to make this subdomain a redirecting subdomain, click on "Go Back", select your subdomain from the drop down menu beside "Setup Redirection", and click the "Setup Redirection" button. Type the address that you wish to redirect to and click "Save".

To grant FTP access to a user for use with a subdomain, click on the "FTP Manager" icon in your account control panel and click on "FTP Accounts". Then click on "Add Account" and type in the user name you wish to create (usually the same as the subdomain alias) and a password. If your user name was the same as the subdomain alias your directory textbox should already be set, otherwise you will need to set this to the desired directory.

Deleting a subdomain does not delete the subdirectory created in the "public_html" folder. This can also be accessed through http://www.yourdomain.com/sub .

More directions can be found in the account control panel options.
